Costume sizing varies by product, supplier and style. Use the size options and any chart on the individual product page as your first reference. This page explains how to read that information; it is not a universal garment size chart.
Read the chart before choosing a label
US, UK and EU clothing labels are not interchangeable with every supplier's S, M, XL or numbered size. A chart may describe body measurements, finished garment measurements, or a recommended wearer height. Confirm which type of information is listed before comparing it with your measurements.
Children's age ranges are guidance, not a guarantee of fit. Where the chart uses recommended height, compare the child's measured height with that recommendation. Do not treat an age or height recommendation as a measured chest, waist or dress length.
How to take measurements
- Chest or bust: measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape level.
- Waist: measure around the natural waist without pulling the tape tight.
- Hips: measure around the fullest part of the hips.
- Height: measure standing height without shoes.
- Garment length: compare only when the product identifies the start and end points of that measurement.
Use the same units as the product chart. For unit conversion, 1 inch equals 2.54 centimetres: divide centimetres by 2.54 to obtain inches, or multiply inches by 2.54 to obtain centimetres.
If a measurement is missing
Check whether the listing gives size labels only. Do not assume a general chart applies to that product. Contact Cosfaire with the product link, selected option and the measurement you need before ordering.
